Former Premier Lee Huan dies at 95

Taipei, Dec. 2 (CNA) Former Premier Lee Huan died ofcardiopulmonary failure at Taipei Veterans General Hospital lateThursday at the age of 95.

The former premier is survived by four children.

Ruling Kuomintang Legislator Lee Ching-hua, the second child ofthe late politician, made the announcement of his father's passingand said the family will hold a simple funeral without a publicmemorial ceremony, according to his father's wishes.

Presidential Office spokesman Lo Chih-chiang said President MaYing-jeou immediately extended his condolences to Lee's family uponbeing informed of the death.

Lee was born in China's Hubei Province in 1917 and served aspremier from 1989-1990. He also served as minister of education from 1984-1987.
