Pandemic's toll on holiday favorite - Kenting

The COVID-19 pandemic is in its third year and one of the sectors hardest hit is the tourism industry. In Taiwan, Kenting on the main island's southern tip, is a popular destination for domestic and foreign tourists alike. But the pandemic has kept out tourists, and this year, a big spike in domestic cases that started last year and increased significantly this year has also kept domestic tourists away. Vendors at Kenting's night market and the head of the local homestay association shared how they weathered the difficult times, and they expressed their hopes for the future, as tourists began to return this summer.
