Taipei, April 20 (CNA) Taiwanese artistic gymnast Tang Chia-hung (唐嘉鴻) won a silver medal in the men's horizontal bar at the 2025 Doha World Cup on Sunday, his first medal of the season.
Tang finished with 14.400 points in the final, gaining a 6.5 difficulty score and 7.900 for execution, which made him second only to Kazakhstan's Milad Karimi, who won gold with a score of 14.500.
Speaking with CNA after the competition, Tang, who won a high bar bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, said that had it not been for a slight flaw in his dismount routine, he would have had a good chance of winning the gold.
However, he added that through participating in the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup in Osijek and Doha this time, he was able to observe the new scoring system of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) for the 2025-2028 Olympic cycle and to see if he can improve his skills.
"I learned a lot from this trip," Tang said.
The Taiwanese gymnast finished sixth in the final of the horizontal bar at the World Cup Osijek last Sunday due to a fall during the cat leap routine.
However, Tang subsequently headed to Doha for the competition in the World Cup series, seeking improved results. He eventually reached the finals of the horizontal bar and still rings.
Tang finished fourth in the still rings at the Doha World Cup on Saturday.
