Tainan, Feb. 4 (CNA) Tourist train "Shanlan" (山嵐號, or Mountain Mist) arrived at Tainan Station on Wednesday ahead of its new route, which will run between Tainan and Changhua County starting April 3.

Operated by Taiwan Railways Corp. (TR) in conjunction with Lion Travel, the train departed from Bao-an Station in Tainan, stopped at Tainan Station, and is scheduled to continue north to Dalin Station in Chiayi County before returning to Tainan on a warm-up run.

TR said the Shanlan, which has been operating on the line between Hualien and Taitung in eastern Taiwan since April 2025, will bring new tourism opportunities and boost local industries along the Tainan-Changhua route.

The service aims to connect railway transportation with local culture, offering travelers a deeper experience of Taiwan's south-central region, TR said.

The scenic route traverses the southern plains and central valley, passing vast fields, rolling hills, and picturesque railway towns, TR added.
