Taipei, Oct. 25 (CNA) Taoyuan police are still in pursuit of an armed suspect who robbed two security guards at a local convenience store in Xinwu District and got away with NT$518,000 (US$18,585) on Monday.

According to the Xinwu police precinct later Monday, a man armed with a pistol entered a convenience store on Zhongshan East Road at around 10 a.m. as the guards were putting money into an automated teller machine (ATM) there.

The man fired a warning shot, which hit the cash box holding the money being put into the ATM machine, and told them to hand over the cash, police said.

The robber immediately fled the scene after getting away with the stolen cash, and no injuries were reported during the incident, they said.

Police said the suspect is still being pursued after a vehicle used during the robbery was found later in the day.
