Taipei, Sept. 24 (CNA) Half price tickets for entry into 13 of Taiwan's forest recreational areas will be offered from the Mid-Autumn Festival to the Double Ten National Day holiday weekend -- Oct. 1 to Oct. 11 -- the Forestry Bureau said Thursday.

These include entry into the Alishan Forest Recreational Area in the southern county of Chiayi and the Kenting Forest Recreation Area in Pingtung, the bureau said.

Others included in the offer are: Neidong and Manyueyuan, both in New Taipei; Dongyanshan in Taoyuan; Dasyueshan and Basianshan in Taichung; Aowanda in Nantou; Shuangliu in Pingtung; Taipingshan in Yilan; Fuyuan and Chihnan in Hualien and Jhihben in Taitung.

Entry to these forest recreation areas during the holiday usually ranges from NT$50 (US$1.7) to NT$300, according to the Forestry Bureau website.

The bureau also reminded the public of a separate special offer, which allows Taiwanese nationals and foreign residents to visit any one of 12 forest recreational areas for free.

This promotion began July 15 and runs until the end of the year, the bureau said.

The participating forest recreational areas are the same as the list above, with the exception of Fuyuan, according to the bureau.

A total of 600,000 people have used the free entry offer so far, the bureau said, adding that they can still take advantage of the half price discount available from Oct. 1 to Oct. 11.
