Taipei, Aug. 19 (CNA) Taiwan Lottery Corp. will add an additional NT$300 million (US$9.57 million) to the jackpots of two national lotteries to celebrate the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival, the company announced Monday.

Taiwan Lottery General Manager Tsai Kuo-chi (蔡國基) said an extra NT$200 million will be added to the draw of the Power Lottery (威力彩) Sept. 2.

According to the company, there will also be an additional 100 lottery draws of NT$1 million for the Grand Lottery (大樂透) game from Sept. 3 to Oct. 4.

Besides the two major lottery games, the company will provide another incentive to players, increasing the prize winnings of its Bingo Bingo game for 16 consecutive days Sept. 6-21.

Altogether, Taiwan Lottery is expected to shell out roughly NT$500 million extra for the upcoming lotteries, Tsai said.

As of Aug. 18 this year, Taiwan Lottery sales have reached some NT$90 billion, which is NT$12.2 billion more than the same period of last year, he added.

This year's Mid-Autumn Festival, one of the three major traditional festivals in Taiwan along with the Dragon Boat Festival and the Lunar New Year Festival, falls on Sept. 13.
