The number of new human immunodeficiency viruses (HIV) infections in Taiwan last year dropped below 2,000 for the first time in six years, and the drop is due to the use of Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), an HIV prevention strategy that involves a cocktail of drugs, a Taipei hospital researcher said Monday.
