Jay Chou's wedding estimated to cost over NT$20 million: media
Taipei, Jan. 18 (CNA) The wedding costs of Taiwanese Mandopop king Jay Chou (周杰倫) and model Hannah Quinlivan (昆凌) are believed to have surpassed NT$20 million (US$633,000), local media reported Sunday.
The lavish wedding that took place at Selby Abbey, a church in the British town of Selby, was followed by a rock party at Castle Howard, to which about 50 guests were invited.
According to Chinese-language newspaper Apple Daily, accommodation for the guests altogether cost some NT$10 million, while it cost NT$195,000 to rent the castle for the night.
If the rock bands and the church expenses are taken into consideration, at least NT$8 million was needed, the newspaper said.
Having told the media previously that he wished to hold his wedding at a castle, Chou did not accept any sponsorship.
Chou was remaining low-key about the expenses of his wedding, but Quinlivan's agents revealed that she was wearing a crown and a necklace by French Jeweller, Chaumet.
In addition, the couple traveled to France, Germany and the Czech Republic last year to take pre-wedding photos, which could have cost some NT$5 million, the newspaper said.
