Taiwan telecom firm reports nearly 10,000 pre-orders for iPhone 8
Taipei, Sept. 14 (CNA) The number of pre-orders made by customers of a single telecommunications company in Taiwan for the latest iPhones has soared to almost 10,000 since Wednesday evening when pre-ordering opened on its website, the firm said Thursday.
In a press release, Taiwan Mobile said the orders were split evenly between the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus, while the most popular color remained gold.
Since 8 p.m. Wednesday, the company said, it has received almost 10,000 pre-orders on its website for the two models.
Taiwan Mobile Co. and Asia Pacific Telecom Co. are the only two companies in Taiwan allowing pre-orders of the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus at the moment.
While the official pre-order date in Taiwan has been set at Sept. 15, the two companies made the option available on Wednesday, with Asia Pacific Telecom starting at 5 p.m. and Taiwan Mobile at 8 p.m.
Asia Pacific Telecom has not disclosed how many orders it has received since then.
The two iPhone 8 models will officially be released in stores across Taiwan on Sept. 22, but in the meantime, other telecommunications service providers in Taiwan will roll out online pre-ordering.
