Tsai-Trump phone call not impromptu act, planned for six months: Ex-Taiwan envoy

Taipei, May 14 (CNA) A former Taiwanese top envoy to the United States that facilitated the historic phone call between President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) and then-U.S. President-elect Donald Trump in 2016 said on Saturday that the telephone conversation was not an impromptu act but had been planned for six months.
