Taipei, Jan. 31 (CNA) Legislative speaker You Si-kun (游錫堃) left Tuesday for the United States to speak at a summit on religious freedom and attend the U.S. National Prayer Breakfast.

You said he was invited to deliver a speech on Wednesday at the International Religious Freedom (IRF) Summit in Washington and also invited to attend the U.S. National Prayer Breakfast -- an annual gathering of political and religious leaders in Washington -- on Thursday.

The speaker discussed the highlights of the first two days of his five-day trip prior to his departure at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport on Tuesday evening.

You said he would also attend meetings with Taiwanese compatriots and academics arranged by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States during his stay in the country.
