Pentagon affirms commitment to Taiwan's self-defense amid tensions

The United States Department of Defense has reaffirmed its pledge to help Taiwan defend itself against Chinese military coercion, after Taiwan's defense chief warned last week that Taiwan Strait tensions are at their "grimmest in more than 40 years."
