Taipei, Sept. 4 (CNA) The Central News Agency (CNA), Taiwan's national news agency, signed a cooperation agreement with Lithuanian news agency ELTA on Wednesday to share news stories and other media resources.
The one year agreement, which automatically renews, was signed during a virtual signing ceremony, between CNA Editor-in-Chief Chris Wang (王思捷) and Vytautas Bruveris, Editor-in-Chief of ELTA, an independent Lithuanian news agency that publishes over 600 articles and photos daily on key events in Lithuania and abroad.
Under the agreement, the two sides agreed to exchange text, photos and videos free of cost, and to establish a cooperative relationship to further strengthen their respective news gathering capabilities and promote international news exchange.
Bruveris called the cooperation a "historic moment" for the two agencies, which were both established over 100 years ago.
He said it is important for media to build international partnerships because media plays an important role in the free world and in every democratic society.
"ELTA is CNA's first partner in the Baltic region," Wang said, adding that he believes that the cooperation between the two news agencies "reflects the growing ties and relationships between our countries."
