Kaohsiung, Oct. 25 (CNA) "See You, Sir" (主管再見) directed by Taiwanese director Lin Ya-yu (林亞佑) was the biggest winner at this year's Kaohsiung Film Festival International Short Film Competition, according to event organizers.

The international competition, in its 10th year this year, judged films in three main categories: Taiwan Competition, International Competition and VR Competition.

"See You, Sir" took the Golden Fireball Award in the Taiwan Competition this year as well as the Man Man Er Asian Rising Star Award, an out-of-competition prize.

The 25-minute film tells the story of young inmates' lives in a juvenile detention center.

In the International Section, the Golden Fireball Award went to "White Eye," an Israeli film directed by Tomer Shushan.

In the VR category, the Canadian film "The Book of Distance" by director Randall Okita bagged the VR Golden Fireball Award.

The Special Jury Award in the International and Taiwan Sections, meanwhile, were awarded respectively to "Da Yie," a Belgium and Ghana co-production directed by Anthony Nti, and "Lucky Draw" (大吉) by Taiwanese director Chin Chia-hua (靳家驊).

The 2020 Kaohsiung Film Festival is taking place from Oct. 16 to Nov. 1 at the Kaohsiung Film Archive, MLD Cinema, Kaohsiung Main Public Library, VR FILM LAB, P3 Warehouses at the Pier 2 Art Center and VR eSports Land, where all the short film competition nominees are being screened.
