Taipei, Oct. 21 (CNA) Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) met with Li Wenhui (李文輝), the director of Shanghai's Taiwan Affairs Office, in Taipei on Monday to discuss cultural, trade and economic ties between the two cities.

Li arrived in Taiwan on Sunday along with the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra to attend the 50th anniversary celebration concert of the Taipei Symphony Orchestra, Taipei City government spokesperson Chou Tai-chu (周台竹) said Monday.

Li and Ko met for 30 minutes and touched on cultural, economic and trade exchanges between Shanghai and Taipei, Chou said.

The Shanghai side also mentioned a classical Chinese music concert and an international arts festival to be staged in Shanghai in September and October 2020 and invited Taiwan's orchestras to attend, Chou said.

Brushing away speculation by Chen Chun-han (陳峻涵), director of the pro-independence Taiwan Republic Office, that the meeting was a secret encounter between Ko and Li, Chou said more than 30 people were present when Ko and Li met.

Li will stay in Taiwan until Wednesday.
