TSMC applies to set up 12-inch wafer plant in China (update)

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC, 台積電), the world's largest contract chip maker, applied on Monday for government approval to set up a 12-inch wafer plant and a design service center in Nanjing, China.
