Embracing native language of immigrants
Singing a children’s song in Vietnamese fluently. Every weekend, these children learn Vietnamese at their school. It’s not a foreign language class, but a program by Taiwan’s government to encourage children of immigrants to learn the native tongue of their immigrant parent.
It’s not just for fun. Taiwan’s government believes this will help it foster a group of multilingual and multicultural talent able to help the island develop good trade and other relations with the foreign countries.
