Taipei, Sept. 14 (CNA) Asia Pacific Telecom Co. reported on Thursday that it has received more than 1,000 pre-orders for the new iPhone 8 model, most of which were for the gold iPhone 8 Plus, after making the service available online a day earlier.

The telecommunications service provider made pre-ordering available on its website as of 5 p.m. on Wednesday, making it the first telecom company to do so in Taiwan.

According to Asia Pacific Telecom's vice president of marketing Didy Teng (鄧美慧) more than 1,000 people have pre-ordered the iPhone 8 or the iPhone 8 Plus, with 70 percent opting for the iPhone 8 Plus model.

The iPhone 8, which is 4.7 inches in length, and the iPhone 8 Plus, 5.5 inches in length, come in two storage sizes -- 64GB and 256GB -- as well as three colors -- gold, space grey and silver.

About 70 percent of those who picked the iPhone 8 Plus chose the 256GB model, while it is split 50-50 between the 64GB and 256GB models for those who chose the iPhone 8, Teng noted.

As a whole, she continued, the preferred color is gold, with 50 percent of all consumers choosing the gold iPhone regardless of model.

Asia Pacific Telecom's pre-order period runs from Sept. 13-21, during which time it will roll out an assortment of promotions to make the purchase of the new iPhone even more attractive.

Taiwan Mobile Co., the second and so far only other company to have made pre-ordering available online, has received nearly 10,000 pre-orders, the majority of which have been for the gold iPhone Plus 64GB and 256GB.
