Taipei, Dec. 24 (CNA) The Badouzi train station in the northern port city of Keelung is scheduled to resume services next week, and is expected to be a new tourist draw on the Shen'ao Line, according to the Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA).

The TRA said it spent NT$10.82 million (US$336,406) renovating the station, which will resume service on Dec. 28. It is an extension of the Haikeguan station, which began service in January 2014.

The first train to arrive at the Badouzi station will get there at 10:25 a.m. on Dec. 28, after leaving the Ruifang station on the 4.7-km Shen'ao Line at 10:12 a.m., the TRA said.

The Shen'ao Line was initially used to transport coal but later began to also carry passengers. It stopped carrying passengers in 1989.

In response to the opening of the National Museum of Marine Science and Technology, which is near the Haikeguan station, the line resumed passenger services in 2014 and has become popular with tourists.

Boasting beautiful natural scenery, the Badouzi station is located on the coast of Keelung.
