Taipei, Nov. 1 (CNA) Six workers were injured in an explosion at at a bicycle factory in Changhua County on Saturday, according the fire department in the southern Taiwan county.

The six employees, two of whom sustained life-threatening injuries, were rushed to Changhua Christian Hospital and Show Chwan Memorial Hospital, the fire department said.

The department said it dispatched 25 firefighters to the site, on eight fire trucks and four ambulances, when the explosion was reported at 1:38 p.m.

When the emergency personnel arrived on the scene, however, the fire had already been put out, the department said.

The cause of the explosion is being investigated, it said.
