Taipei, Oct. 21 (CNA) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) expressed its condolences following the death of a Serbian mayor visiting Taiwan and extended its full support to the family, a ministry's spokesman said on Saturday.

According to MOFA's Andrew Lee (李憲章), a Serbian mayor, who was visiting Taiwan as part of an economic development delegation, passed out during a visit to Yilan at around noon on Saturday.

The MOFA personnel with the delegation rushed the mayor to National Yang-Ming University Hospital, but doctors were unable to revive him.

MOFA has dispatched more personnel to Yilan, to provide assistance, Lee noted.

The Taipei Representative Office in Budapest, Hungary, will provide members of the mayor's family with any assistance they might need.

As per the wishes of the family, the mayor's name and cause of death will not be revealed, the spokesman noted, though local media outlets have already identified him as Dragi Nestorovic, from the city of Krusevac in Serbia.
