Taiwan grabs 4 golds, 10 silvers at Asian Para Games

Taipei, Oct. 24 (CNA) Taiwan saw its medal haul at the Asian Para Games improve to 38 on Friday, boosted by table tennis players at team events, as the regional sports competition for athletes with physical disabilities drew to an end.

Taiwan's athletes grabbed 4 golds, 10 silvers and 24 bronzes to rank 8th in the total medal count, trailing China on the top of the chart with 317 medals in all, South Korea and Japan.

On Friday, the final day of the competition held in Incheon, Taiwan's table tennis players contributed by adding one silver medal in a men's team event and four bronzes in three men's team events and one women's team event.

The four gold medals were won in the men's 100 m athletics, women's under-79 kg powerlifting, women's 100 m breaststroke swimming and a tenpin bowling's mixed doubles event.

Taiwan fielded 73 athletes for the Oct. 18-24 Asian Para Games.

Last year, Taiwan won 8 golds, 7 silvers and 11 bronzes.
