The existing model of HTC Butterfly.
Taipei, June 12 (CNA) The new Butterfly S smartphone HTC Corp. is scheduled to launch on June 19 will have only one storage size option -- 16-gigabytes -- a company source said Tuesday.
The upgraded version of the popular HTC Butterfly will be targeted at high-end users and carry a price tag of over NT$20,000 (US$670), the source told CNA on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly on the matter.
Another new smartphone to be unveiled by the Taiwanese mobile phone maker at a press conference that day -- the HTC Desire 600 dual -- will be priced at under NT$15,000 to expand the company's presence in the mid- to entry-level mobile market, the source said.
According to foreign media reports, the HTC Butterfly S will feature the same 5-inch display as its previous model but be equipped with a faster processor.
J.P. Morgan Securities analysts said the Butterfly S will go on sale in the third quarter and help HTC's sales grow by 15 to 20 in the quarter from a quarter earlier.
