
Taipei, June 20 (CNA) An electric vehicle driven by a 74-year-old man that was temporarily parked along Nanjing West Road in Taipei suddenly lurched onto the sidewalk Friday afternoon, injuring a female pedestrian and damaging 12 scooters and four bicycles.
The accident, involving a BMW electric vehicle, occurred near Nanjing West Road Lane 167 at around 3 p.m., and left a woman surnamed Lin (林) with bruises to her shoulder and leg, police said.
She was taken to a hospital for treatment and is not in life-threatening condition, according to police.
The reason for the vehicle's sudden acceleration was unclear as of Friday evening, and the cause of the accident was under investigation, police said.
The driver, surnamed Tseng (曾), did not test positive for alcohol in his blood.
