Taipei, March 14 (CNA) A strong cold air mass could push temperatures in parts of northern Taiwan down to single digits next week, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said Friday.

According to the CWA, temperatures in northern and northeastern Taiwan are set to hit as low as 9 degrees Celsius from Tuesday to Thursday due to an incoming cold air mass combined with radiative cooling.

The leading edge of the cold air mass is expected to reach northern Taiwan on Saturday morning, bringing intermittent rain or thunderstorms across the island, while there may also be regional showers in the north.

Showers are also forecast in mountainous areas in the east and parts of central and southern Taiwan before the weather turns dry and colder on Sunday, the agency said.

The CWA forecast generally cold conditions across the island starting Saturday. Over the weekend, temperatures are expected to range between 10-18 degrees in northern and northeastern Taiwan, 12-20 degrees in central areas, and 14-23 degrees in the south and east.
