Taiwan issues sea warning for Super Typhoon Maria
Taipei, July 9 (CNA) The Central Weather Bureau (CWB) has issued a sea warning for Super Typhoon Maria, which is approaching waters east of Taiwan.
The sea warning was issued at 2:30 p.m.
As of 2 p.m., Maria was 1,091 kilometers east-southeast of Taipei, moving at a speed of 31 kilometers per hour in a west-northwesterly direction, according to the CWB's latest update.
It is packing maximum sustained winds of 198 kph and gusts of 245 kph, according to the bureau.
Maria will be the first typhoon to affect Taiwan this year, the bureau said.
