Scientists solve centuries-old mystery by discovering 'mechanical waves'

Researchers from Academia Sinica, Taiwan's top research institute, have solved the centuries-old question of how regenerative animals are able to grow back lost appendages, projecting parts of an animal that have a distinct appearance or function, through the discovery of "mechanical waves" in their cells.
