Ma to resign as KMT chairman

Taipei, Dec. 2 (CNA) President Ma Ying-jeou said Tuesday at a party meeting that he will resign as chairman of the Kuomintang to take responsibility for the party's crushing defeat in Saturday's local elections.

Ma will tender his resignation at Wednesday's meeting of the KMT Standing Committee, according to a party source.
