LIVE/2024 Golden Bell Awards -- TV drama

Taipei, Oct. 19 (CNA) The Golden Bell Awards for television programs in Taiwan will hold the second part of a two-night awards ceremony at the Taipei Music Center on Saturday, with dramas taking over the spotlight.

Taiwanese actor and TV host Jack Yao (姚淳耀), who has won Golden Bells for best actor and best presenter in non-scripted programs, will make his debut as a host of a major awards ceremony Saturday for the 59th edition of the awards, which honor both TV and radio programs.

Legal drama "Port of Lies" (八尺門的辯護人) leads all entries with 16 nominations at this year's awards. It was based on a 1986 murder case, but the murderer's character was changed from an Indigenous man to a migrant worker defended by an Indigenous lawyer.

Mini series "Imperfect Us" (不夠善良的我們) received 13 nominations.

Actresses Ariel Lin (林依晨) and Hsu Wei-ning (許瑋甯), who portrayed two women in a love triangle born on the same month and day, are both nominated in the category for best actress in a limited series or TV movie.

Sanlih E-Television (SET) and the Public Television Service will broadcast the red carpet events starting at 5 p.m. and the main ceremony starting at 7 p.m. Saturday.
