Furloughed workers top 10,000 mark on weakening manufacturing sector

The number of furloughed workers on formal unpaid leave programs in Taiwan passed the 10,000 mark in the past week as the export-oriented manufacturing sector continued to feel the pinch from weakening global demand, the Ministry of Labor (MOL) said Wednesday.
