Taipei, Sept. 24 (CNA) Buyers in Taiwan who had pre-ordered Apple's new iPhone 13 models rushed to pick up their orders Friday, with some people lining up for hours outside the stores.

One customer, a man in 30s who identified himself only as Lester, said he was first in line at the Apple Xinyi store in Taipei, having arrived there at 4 a.m.

Lester, who works in the advertising industry, told CNA that he had pre-ordered the iPhone 13 Pro Max, his 10th iPhone, with 128GB storage capacity, which would serve well to back up his data.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max also has a Super Retina XDR display with a 120Hz refresh rate, which is an attractive feature, said Lester, whose previous phone was an iPhone 12 Pro Max Graphite.

The other new iPhone 13 models that had been pre-ordered and were being delivered to customers in Taiwan on Friday were the iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, and iPhone 13 Pro.

The two buyers who were second and third in line at the Apple Xinyi store on Friday said they had pre-ordered the iPhone 13 Pro Max and the standard iPhone 13, respectively.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max buyer, who identified himself only as Hsu (許), said he was picking two units, one of which has been ordered by his brother-in-law as a birthday gift for Hsu's sister.

Hsu said he was looking forward to the smartphone's new pro camera system, which can be used for macro photography, and it ProRes video recording.

Meanwhile, Chunghwa Telecom and Far EasTone telecom companies held promotional events on Friday to mark the official launch of the iPhone 13 series in Taiwan, with Chunghwa Telecom giving away AirPods Pro to the first 20 customers at its Xinyi Vieshow store.

A customer surnamed Chung (鍾) said he was first in the line when he got to the Chunghwa Telecom store at around 6 a.m., and he was waiting to get a sierra blue iPhone 13 512G.

At Far EasTone, the first person in the queue was a man surnamed Liu (劉), who said he was a loyal Apple fan and had bought every generation of the company's iPhones.

Liu said he was getting the sierra blue iPhone 13 128G on a two-year 5G contract that would cost NT$1,399 per month.
