Waste storage problem may force early retirement at first nuke plant

The No. 1 reactor at Taiwan's first nuclear power plant may need to be decommissioned next year instead of in 2018 as scheduled unless more space is made for storing spent fuel rods, the state-run Taiwan Power Company (Taipower) said Thursday.
