Taiwan’s president urges China to give Hong Kong democracy

On the Republic of China's 103rd birthday on Oct. 10, Taiwan's President Ma Ying-jeou strongly urged mainland China to grant Hong Kong people's demands for universal suffrage. He challenged China's leaders to turn the crisis over Hong Kong's Occupy Central movement into an opportunity and let the former British colony become democratic.
