Taiwan’s indigenous submarine conducts 1st dive test

Taiwan’s first domestically built submarine prototype, the Hai Kun, departs a pier in Kaohsiung on Thursday as it undergoes its maiden dive test, marking a major milestone in the country’s indigenous submarine program. Dozens of military enthusiasts gathered along the waterfront early in the morning to cheer it on —waving large national flags and holding banners reading “Go, Hai Kun.”
