Taipei, Jan. 4 (CNA) A truck-mounted crane collapsed early Thursday morning at Houli train station in Taichung, causing a power outage that affected 2,650 passengers, according to the Taiwan Railway Administration (TRA).

The crane collapsed while engaged in lifting operations at the station at 0:50 a.m. and fell on power lines, which disrupted the electricity supply and train services, the TRA said.

The damaged crane was removed from the site at 5:15 a.m. and rail services returned to normal at 8:11 a.m. after the problem was fixed, according to the TRA.

During the service disruption, eight shuttle buses were used to transport about 500 passengers on routes between Sanyi and Fengyuan, Houli and Fengyuan.

Passengers impacted by the delay in services are eligible for compensation if they experienced a delay of more than 45 minutes, including a full refund.
