Taipei, Feb. 24 (CNA) Several activities, including the screening of a documentary on a Republic of China diplomat who risked his life and career to save thousands of Jews from the Holocaust during World War II, will be held in Taipei on Sunday to remember the victims of the Holocaust.

Israel's representative to Taiwan, Asher Yarden, said the Holocaust Remembrance Day memorial activities will include a Jewish prayer service and the lighting of six candles in memory of the 6 million Jews killed in the Holocaust.

There will also be a photo exposition on the Holocaust, concerts, poetry readings and the documentary on R.O.C. diplomat Ho Feng-shan (何鳳山), he said.

The event is aimed at giving Taiwanese people the chance to learn more about the history of Holocaust and express appreciation to Ho, who saved more than 3,000 Jews by issuing them visas when he was the R.O.C.'s consul-general in Vienna during the war, Yarden said.

The activities are being jointly organized by the representative offices of Israel and Germany in Taipei and will be held at the National Central Library.

President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) has been invited to attend the annual event, Yarden said.
