Singaporean scholar supports Taiwan's claim over Taiping Island

A Singaporean academic backed Taiwan'ssovereignty claim over Taiping Island in the South China Sea onSaturday, saying the claim would be hard to overturn since thecountry has had a military and administrative presence on the island since 1956.
