Taipei, Sept. 1 (CNA) "Taipei Factory II," a three-part film co-produced by government committees in Taiwan and Italy, held its world premiere at the 71st Venice Film Festival Sunday, where Taiwanese and Italian cast and crew members received a warm welcome on the red carpet.

Fans greeted the film's three Italian actors -- Marco Foschi, Margot Sikabonyi and Michele Cesari -- as well as Taiwanese actress Yang Kuei-mei and the film's directors and producers on the red carpet, the Taipei Film Commission said Monday.

Co-produced by the commission and Italy's Rai Cinema, the film had its screening at Sala Pasinetti cinema in the Out of Competition section of the world-famous festival, which runs Aug. 27-Sept. 6.

"Taipei Factory II" comprises three 30-minute shorts by Taiwanese directors: "The Thrill is Gone," a thriller by Hou Chi-jan; "Soap Opera," a romantic comedy by Cho Li; and "Luca," a drama by Hsieh Chun-yi.

All set in Taipei, the films use both Italian and Taiwanese actors.

The co-production is part of the Taipei Factory project, now in its second year, which helps match local filmmakers and actors with foreign counterparts.
