Taiwan, Japan market cooperation committee meets for first time

Tokyo, June 14 (CNA) A committee established by Taiwan and Japan to jointly develop potential markets overseas met for the first time Thursday, according to a Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association (JTEA) release.

The meeting, which was held in Tokyo, was attended by Chiou I-jen (邱義仁), head of the Taiwan-Japan Relations Association, and JTEA Chairman Mitsuo Ohashi (大橋光夫), who led delegations of business leaders from their respective countries.

According to the JTEA, the event was held to promote trade, intellectual property, and tariff cooperation in markets outside Japan and Taiwan which the countries intend to explore and develop together.

In addition to the exchange of ideas and opinions, the meeting also sought to boost economic and trade relations between the two sides, the release said.
