Ma tells Le Figaro: Taiwan will not be another Hong Kong

President Ma Ying-jeou said Taiwan will not be "another Hong Kong" since the Republic of China is a sovereign country with its own political systems and democratic values, while Hong Kong was transferred to Chinese authorities in 1997, according to a report published Friday by major French daily Le Figaro.
