Who will really represent the KMT?
Shouting support for Hung Hsiu-chu, the presidential candidate of Taiwan's ruling party KMT in the January election – these people reflect the crisis facing the KMT. Due to Hung's continuing low approval ratings in opinion polls, the KMT's chairman Eric Chu held a Central Standing Committee meeting in early October. At the meeting, it was decided that the KMT will hold an extraordinary party congress. The congress, to be held later this month, is expected to decide whether the KMT should nominate a new presidential candidate to replace Hung.
