Taiwan eyes commemoration of Sancha Mountain Incident

On Sept. 10, 1945, a U.S. B‑24 bomber carrying Allied prisoners of war crashed into Sancha Mountain in Taiwan, triggering a large‑scale mountain rescue mission in which 26 Japanese and local rescuers lost their lives. Eighty years later, the Taiwanese government and civil society are moving to commemorate this historically significant yet often overlooked event.
