A Taiwanese fisherman was shot dead on Thursday when a Philippines government vessel fired shots at his fishing boat while he was fishing in overlapping waters South of Taiwan.
Taiwan’s government has strongly protested and condemned the shooting. President Ma Ying-jeou has demanded that the Philippines apologize, punish those involved and make compensation. He vowed to seek a thorough investigation into the incident.
