Taipei, April 22 (CNA) Forty-six Taiwanese telecommunication fraud suspects arrested in Poland earlier this year have been taken into custody by Taiwan prosecutors after they were brought back from the Central European country over the past two days, prosecutors in Miaoli County said Sunday.

Another two pregnant suspects were each granted NT$100,000 (US$3,401) bail, according to the prosecutors.

Arrested in Poland in January, the 48 suspects, most of whom were from Miaoli, were taken to the Miaoli District Prosecutors Office for questioning in two groups Friday and Saturday.

Early Saturday, judges at the Miaoli District Court approved a prosecutors' request to detain all the first group of 34 suspects except for a pregnant woman, who was granted bail.

The second group of 14 suspects arrived in Taiwan Saturday and 13 of them were taken into custody the next day, with another pregnant suspect granted NT$100,000 bail.
