Taipei, Sept. 24 (CNA) High temperatures will remain across Taiwan in the next few days, but cooler weather is forecast for the second half of the week, according to the Central Weather Bureau.

For Sunday, daytime highs could reach 35-36 degrees Celsius in western Taiwan and 33-34 degrees in eastern Taiwan due to persistent southeastern winds, the bureau said, urging the public to stay hydrated while outdoors.

Mountainous areas across the country and flat areas in southern and central Taiwan will see occasional thundershowers in the afternoon, it said.

The bureau forecast that northern Taiwan will experience cooler weather with cloudier skies from Thursday, as a result of an approaching front which will be followed by a system of northeastern winds that is expected to bring interim rain to Taiwan's northern and eastern regions.

From Oct. 1-3, temperatures in northern areas will likely rebound somewhat, but another south-bound front is forecast to arrive near Taiwan soon, it said, adding that how the front will influence the island will require further monitoring.
