KMT to elect new chairman Jan. 17

The ruling Kuomintang's (KMT) Central Standing Committee on Wednesday decided that a vote will be held Jan. 17 for a chairman to replace President Ma Ying-jeou, who resigned as head of the KMT following its crushing defeat in the last month's local elections.
