Taiwan's 2013 trade surplus with China shows 21.6% growth

Taipei, Jan. 10 (CNA) Taiwan's enjoyed a surplus of US$116 billion in its trade with China in 2013, up by an annual 21.6 percent, China's customs authorities said Friday, attributing the growth to the 2010 bilateral Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement.

According to figures released in Beijing by the General Administration of Customs, two-way trade reached US$197.28 billion last year, a 16.7 percent increase from 2012.

Taiwan imported US$40.64 billion worth of products from China in 2013, up 10.5 annually, while Taiwan's exports to China reached US$156.64 billion, up 18.5 percent.

Figures released by the Chinese authorities in early 2013 showed that in 2012, Taiwan had a trade surplus of US$95.4 billion with China, while bilateral trade totaled US$168.96 billion.
