Singer Wilber Pan suffers head injury; concert cancelled

Taipei, Oct. 24 (CNA) Singer Wilber Pan suffered head injuries while rehearsing for a concert, requiring surgery, his record company said Friday.

Pan, 34, was practicing for the "high air acrobat" portion of his show in the wee hours of Friday when he lost his balance due to exhaustion and hit his head, resulting in massive bleeding, Universal Music Limited By Share Ltd. said.

Pan was rushed to the hospital, where he received stitches, the company said, adding that hospital staff advised him to stay in the hospital for between five and seven days for observation.

Pan's concert scheduled for Saturday at the Taipei Arena has been canceled, the company said.

Fellow entertainers such as Rainie Yang, Michelle and Alec Su conveyed their best wishes to Pan via social media.

Actress Sandrine Pinna, who worked with Pan on the "Endless Love" TV show that won Pan the Best Leading Actor award in a television series at the Golden Bell Awards, Taiwan's equivalent to the Emmy Awards, wrote: "Everyone loves you! Wishing you a speedy recovery!"

Pan, an American-born Taiwanese, is a Mandopop singer-songwriter, rapper, music producer, actor and entrepreneur.
