Taipei, Sept. 23 (CNA) Taiwanese weightlifter Lin Tzu-chi could earn at least NT$4 million (US$131,520) in rewards for winning Taiwan's second gold medal at the Asian Games in South Korea Tuesday.

The local government of Lin's home county, Kinmen, will award Lin, who set a world record in the women's under-63kg weightlifting event, NT$1 million if she applies for the money, said Hsu Neng-li, a county official.

That cash prize will add to NT$3 million the central government will award her. Fellow weightlifter Hsu Shu-ching also set a world record and took Taiwan's first gold of the competition by winning in the under-53kg category Sunday.

Both Lin and Hsu are students of the Kaohsiung Medical University which is studying how to reward them.
